One of the most common questions we hear from parents is, "Is my child old enough?" The short answer: there is a good starting point at almost every age.
Ages 4–6: building foundations
Young children are ready for martial arts when classes are designed for them. At this age, classes focus on listening, balance, coordination and basic manners, taught through games. Our Little Tigers program is built for exactly this stage.
Ages 7–12: the sweet spot for skills
School-age kids can follow multi-step instructions and remember forms. They make fast progress in technique, and the life skills of discipline and goal setting really take hold.
Teens: confidence and challenge
Teens benefit from a positive outlet, physical challenge and a supportive peer group. Martial arts gives them a place to build identity and confidence.
Adults: never too late
Adults of every age start martial arts. Many begin alongside their kids. Training improves fitness, flexibility and stress levels at any stage of life.
Signs your child is ready
